welcome
Welcome to my new blog.
Sonja Marshall-Bone, Jewelry Artist
My career in the creative arts began in college, working as a potter. For the last 15 years, I've made my living mostly as a freelance graphic designer and art director working for clients such as Universal Studios Florida, Disney, Tupperware and United Way, just to name a few.
In 2004, I began participating in art shows as a jewelry artist. Since then, I have been invited to exhibit in more than 16 shows from Maitland, FL to Savannah GA and sell my work regularly. In the fall of 2007 I was the recipient of an Award of Distiction at the Deland Fall Festival of the Arts. My continuing education has included both classes and workshops in basic and advanced metalsmithing and beading. The most rewarding was a two week workshop at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Working with the award winning jewelry artist Kiwon Wang and immersing myself in a fully creative environment only helped to deepen my commitment to this medium.
As a jewelry artist, my work combines the integrity of fine art and the principles of graphic design. My graphic design background allows me to create a pleasing combination of simplicity and balance. My goal is to create jewelry that expresses integrity and coherence by combining elements of shape, color and texture in a seemingly effortless relationship.
